HO CHI MINH CITY -- Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Vietnam next week, Beijing confirmed on Thursday, making a rare trip abroad that sources say will cover a rail project while conveying a message of "common destiny" between the Asian neighbors.
The president will be in Hanoi on Tuesday and Wednesday at the invitation of his counterpart Vietnam Communist Party boss Nguyen Phu Trong, the official Xinhua news agency said.
