NEW DELHI -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping signaled a move toward closer ties after their first formal meeting in five years on Wednesday, on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Russia.
The meeting follows a border patrol agreement announced this week that is expected to ease the four-year standoff at the Himalayan frontier following a deadly clash between troops from both sides in 2020.
