WASHINGTON -- Monday marks two years since Rahm Emanuel, U.S. President Joe Biden's ambassador to Japan, presented his credentials to Emperor Naruhito.

The nomination of the brash political operator was initially greeted with skepticism. Several members of his own Democratic Party voted against his confirmation.
