SEOUL -- Japan and South Korea should consider issuing a new joint statement in 2025 as they mark key milestones in bilateral relations, said Park Cheol-hee, a key foreign policy adviser to South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol.

Park became chancellor of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy, which trains South Korean diplomats, in March 2023. Edited excerpts from his recent interview with Nikkei follow.
