Nation's longest-serving leader shot days before upper house election

TOKYO -- Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has died after being shot on Friday, the hospital treating him confirmed.

Abe, Japan's longest-serving leader, was 67. Doctors said he died at 5:03 p.m. Japan time.
