TOKYO -- Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, who now leads a minority government, faces a trio of major hurdles in the run-up to the next big election.

Lawmakers voted Monday to keep the Liberal Democratic Party's Ishiba in his post. Later that day, he spoke to reporters about the challenges of managing parliament as a ruling coalition controlling a minority of seats.
