New Japan PM Ishiba meets ASEAN leaders in diplomatic debut

VIENTIANE -- New Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba made his diplomatic debut on Thursday, participating in a meeting with his Southeast Asian counterparts in Laos.

"This is my first visit overseas since I have assumed the post of prime minister," Ishiba said in his opening remarks at the ASEAN-Japan summit.
