TOKYO -- A revised immigration law will come into effect in Japan on Monday, allowing the country to deport asylum-seekers who have pending applications.

Under the current system, Japan cannot deport those who have pending asylum applications despite previous claims having been rejected. The new system will allow deportations of those who have applied for refugee status three or more times if no reasonable grounds for approval are submitted.
