Japan to boost spending on hypersonic tech and drone development

TOKYO -- A Japanese government panel on Monday completed a list of research fields eligible for financial support in the interest of economic security, with the roster including the development of hypersonic technology and drones.

The panel of experts signed off on a proposal naming 27 applications categorized among maritime activities, aerospace, cyberspace and bio-related fields. The critical technologies include artificial intelligence, robotics and quantum technology.
