TOKYO -- Japan will seek to involve the private sector in official development assistance (ODA) projects from the earliest stages in order to speed up planning and secure bigger contracts for Japanese companies.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency and the state-backed company Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI), which covers risks associated with overseas transactions, will sign a memorandum for cooperation as early as Saturday.
