Japan to defend chips, other tech with new economic security plan

TOKYO -- Japan's government will release an economy security plan this month meant to protect vital industries like semiconductors and advance cooperation with international partners.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on Thursday held the first panel meeting on the topic. Panel members included industry representatives, such as Mitsubishi Heavy Industries President Seiji Izumisawa.
