Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba: A spokesperson for Ishiba says the prime minister's latest medical appointment was made in advance of his trip to South America, which begins Nov. 14.

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba received a medical checkup on Wednesday for the second time in five days, amid concerns after he appeared to fall asleep during a parliamentary session.

The top government spokesman, however, dismissed fears that the 67-year-old leader has been unwell, saying there is "no health issue."
