Japanese lawmakers squabble over negative GDP growth

TOKYO -- Lawmakers locked horns over the effectiveness of Abenomics here, after preliminary gross domestic figures released Monday revealed that the Japanese economy contracted for a second straight quarter in July-September.

     The opposition camp, which has recently been on the defensive, is taking the opportunity to slam Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's economic policies ahead of the possible lower house elections in December.
