TOKYO -- North Korea took another step toward its goal of developing an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching the U.S. mainland, with the range of the rocket launched Sunday estimated at up to 13,000km.
Along with upgrading its long-range rockets, Pyongyang has been conducting nuclear tests since 2006 and working on a smaller nuclear warhead. The next hurdle comes in developing the technology for the rocket's payload to withstand atmospheric re-entry.
