HONG KONG -- Macao's upcoming election for chief executive will again have just one candidate -- this time Sam Hou-fai, former president of the Court of Final Appeal -- after the Chinese territory's application period for candidates closed on Thursday.
A candidate needs the nomination of at least 66 of the Chief Executive Election Committee's 400 members, who represent various fields. Sam drew support from 383, or nearly 96% of the members.
