MANILA -- Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said pursuing an impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte is "not important," signaling his intention to ease tensions between the two as lawmakers focus on next year's budget.

"This is not important, this [does] not make any difference to even one single Filipino life," Marcos told reporters on Friday. "So why waste time on this? What will happen if somebody files an impeachment?"
