HONG KONG -- Suffocating heat and rising political tension point to a long, hot summer in Hong Kong.

     In the week following a large protest reported around the world, police made fresh arrests of protest organizers, and lawmakers raised havoc in the legislature. Tempers flared everywhere as the contentious issue of democracy split this international financial hub.
