MANILA -- The Philippines' Commission on Elections on Thursday dismissed petitions to exclude front-runner Ferdinand Marcos Jr. from the country's presidential race on May 9.

Three consolidated petitions seeking to block Marcos's presidential bid citing a past tax violation "have been dismissed due to lack of merit," commission spokesperson James Jimenez said in a tweet. He did not provide additional details.
