MANILA -- The leaders of the U.S. and China on Thursday both congratulated Philippine President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on his election win, as the two superpowers vie for influence over the Southeast Asian nation.

U.S. President Joe Biden called Marcos following his landslide victory on Monday.
