MANILA -- The spat between the Philippines' top political families, the Marcoses and Dutertes, has turned bitter as the political infighting degenerated into an assassination threat.

Vice President Sara Duterte said Saturday that she has ordered a hit against the Marcoses that is to be carried out if she is killed. On Monday night, former President Rodrigo Duterte, Sara's father, called on the military to act on the developments, hinting at a coup.
