LONDON -- Major Western and Asian nations followed the U.K. by going on high alert in the wake of Monday's terrorist bombing in Manchester, bolstering defenses of so-called soft targets that attract big crowds but are relatively unprotected.
British Prime Minister Theresa May noted "not only that an attack remains highly likely, but that a further attack may be imminent" on Tuesday as the U.K. raised its terror alert level from the second-highest "severe" to the maximum level of "critical" for the first time in a decade.
