In turning to his younger brother Shahbaz as his choice to become the face of his Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) party and of Pakistan, ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is embracing an obvious choice. Many observers have long seen the younger sibling as more dynamic and engaging than the older.
Before he can be anointed, the younger Sharif will have to resign as chief minister of the province of Punjab, and win election to the National Assembly in the seat vacated by his older brother. Assuming he succeeds, he will serve as prime minister until the next general election.
