SINGAPORE -- Prime Minister Lawrence Wong faces mounting pressures to reform the city-state's ruling party to win more public support ahead of the next general election, as he potentially takes the party's top post soon.
Next month, the People's Action Party (PAP) will renew its Central Executive Committee members as their two-year term ends, which is when Wong's ascension may occur, according to political observers. That would mean the party has 51-year-old Wong right at the top to spearhead its campaign in the coming election, which Singapore has to hold by November 2025.
