MAYUKO TANI, Nikkei Staff Writer

SINGAPORE -- This city-state is steadily moving toward becoming an international legal hub. The Singapore International Commercial Court, where cross-border business lawsuits would be heard, could be set up early next year, according to local media reports.

Singapore's Ministry of Law on Tuesday submitted constitutional amendments to parliament that would make way for the SICC. Before the court can be set up, the amendments and the Supreme Court of Judicature Act must be passed.
