SEOUL -- A South Korean court granted an extension of an arrest warrant for impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol, investigators said Tuesday, clearing the way for another effort to detain him after Yoon's security service stymied the first attempt last week.

The country's Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) and the National Police Agency, which are conducting a joint probe into insurrection charges against Yoon, will decide when to try to execute the warrant again. Yoon's side maintains that the warrant is illegal and is expected to continue to resist arrest.
