SEOUL -- South Korea's acting president held his first cabinet meeting on Thursday, as his office pledged to restore order and legality after the chaos sparked by now-suspended President Yoon Suk Yeol's sudden martial law declaration.

At the meeting, Prime Minister and acting President Han Duck-soo sent six contentious pieces of legislation back to the National Assembly for reconsideration. Han's refusal to approve the bills continued a practice of nixing legislation spearheaded by Yoon, who used his presidential veto more than every other South Korean leader combined.
