SEOUL -- South Korean police said on Monday that they could call in President Yoon Suk Yeol for questioning in connection with his short-lived declaration of martial law last week, which saw soldiers storming the legislature and threw politics into turmoil.

Opposition politicians tried to impeach Yoon on Saturday but fell short when ruling People Power Party lawmakers boycotted the vote. With South Korea entering its first full business week since the start of the crisis last Tuesday, uncertainty is building over the president's fate and who is actually running the country.
