SEOUL -- The leader of South Korea's ruling party on Friday called for President Yoon Suk Yeol to be immediately suspended from his duties, saying he poses a danger to South Korea and its people following his botched attempt to implement martial law.

The remarks represent a shift in position from ruling People Power Party (PPP) leader Han Dong-hoon, who on Thursday said his party would not cooperate with the opposition's efforts to remove Yoon from office. However, Han did not specifically call for Yoon to be impeached.
