SEOUL -- South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol used his veto power to nix high-profile legislation on unions and broadcasters, a move likely to worsen his party's already-tense relations with the political opposition, labor and media groups.

The bills were brought forward by the main opposition Democratic Party, which holds a majority in the legislature. The legislation was passed in the National Assembly on Nov. 17 and Yoon had a 15-day window to veto it before its formal promulgation.
