SEOUL -- Ko Sung-kook's office in Seoul buzzed as researchers prepared show notes and a constant flow of visitors filtered in and out of the cramped space.
Ko, a middle-aged man with dapper newscaster looks, took his seat at the end of a boardroom table and in front of a plain blue screen. He then looked into his laptop webcam and addressed the 1 million subscribers to his namesake YouTube channel.
