SEOUL -- South Korea's ruling party appointed Justice Minister Han Dong-hoon as its interim leader on Thursday as it prepares for legislative elections scheduled for April.

Han will be taking over as chair of the emergency committee of President Yoon Suk Yeol's People Power Party (PPP). A party vote will be held Tuesday to formalize the appointment.
