SEOUL -- South Korea's National Intelligence Service is facing uncertainty after the recent appointments of senior officials were unexpectedly withdrawn, raising questions about the future of the agency's chief.

Five NIS officials had their positions revoked just days after they were announced early this month, apparently after a change of heart by conservative President Yoon Suk Yeol.
