SEOUL -- South Korean historical blockbuster "12:12: The Day" starts with the assassination of a president, a killing that sets off a wave of political turmoil and leads to an all-out battle for control of the country.
The story is based on the real-life death of President Park Chung-hee and the subsequent coup by Chun Doo-hwan (played by veteran film star Hwang Jung-min), a ruthless general who takes advantage of the post-assassination chaos.
