HAMBURG, Germany -- Taiwanese Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung's recent weeklong visit to Lithuania produced two agreements for collaboration on drones and a speech about the democratic values the island shares with the Baltic country.

But Lin's trip, which also took him briefly to Belgium and Poland, was foreshadowed by an inauspicious indicator for the future of Lithuania-Taiwan relations.
