TAIPEI/HONG KONG -- Market players are closely watching Saturday's presidential election in Taiwan for its far-reaching global implications. Yet the politically sensitive nature of the poll means many are cautious to present their views despite playing up its significance.
Ning Zhang, senior China economist at UBS Investment Research, said at a news conference in Hong Kong on Thursday that the topic of the election was "political," and that it was "inconvenient" to comment on it.
