TAIPEI -- Ko Wen-je, the upstart Taiwan People's Party's (TPP) presidential candidate, said Friday he will ensure there are "no surprises" for either the U.S. or China should he win Saturday's election.

"Taiwan is part of the international society, and we should think from the perspective of both the U.S. and China when making key decisions," the former surgeon and Taipei mayor said at an international news conference in New Taipei.
