Taliban affiliate blamed for Kabul attack

Authorities claim Pakistan connection

NEW DELHI -- Afghan authorities have accused the Taliban-linked Haqqani network of carrying out the deadly bombing on Wednesday in Afghanistan's capital of Kabul, though the group has yet to claim responsibility for the attack.

A tanker truck exploded near the German Embassy in Kabul's diplomatic quarter during rush hour. Local officials have told reporters that 80 or 90 people were killed. The U.S. State Department announced that 11 Americans were injured.
