BANGKOK -- Former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra was charged on Wednesday under the kingdom's stringent laws against royal insult and computer crime, stemming from comments made in 2015 to a South Korean news outlet.
The attorney general announced the charges after months of consideration, but postponed reading the charges to Thaksin until June 18, as the 74-year-old says he is ill with COVID-19.
