TOKYO -- Tokyo's first female governor, Yuriko Koike, secured a third term on Sunday in the capital's gubernatorial election. Koike, 71, will hold the position for another four years, overseeing Japan's most populous city and its largest municipal budget.

The election saw 6.8 million Tokyoites head to the polls, and 42.8% of the valid votes went to Koike.
