TOKYO -- Two prominent Chinese lawyers were recognized for their human rights advocacy at a conference in Tokyo on Wednesday, held on the tenth anniversary of a nationwide crackdown against human rights lawyers, activists and advocates in China, which began on July 9, 2015.
Lu Siwei and Li Guobei, who remain active in the country under increasingly repressive conditions, were awarded the "China Human Rights Award," which has been presented to distinguished lawyers and activists since 2018.
