TOKYO -- Leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond congratulated Donald Trump on his victory in the U.S. presidential election, as they prepare for another four years of unpredictable relations with the world's top superpower.

In some cases even before the results of Tuesday's voting were declared official -- but with Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris' hopes all but extinguished -- key figures reached out to the former and soon-to-be new president.
