NEW DELHI -- Southern India's Thulasendrapuram may be a long way from the White House, but the village is still celebrating its link to U.S. presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

Indian newspapers have been abuzz with stories about Harris and her late mother Shyamala Gopalan, a cancer specialist who emigrated to America, but whose family hails from the town in Tamil Nadu state.
