WASHINGTON -- Another Donald Trump presidency, but with J.D. Vance by his side this time, would harden the U.S.'s stance on economic nationalism as trade barriers expand beyond Chinese access to technology, corporate advisers and analysts said.

Republican vice presidential candidate Vance's acceptance speech on Wednesday, in which he vowed to focus on the working man and not Wall Street, has shed light on a potential Trump-Vance administration. His blending of domestic economic policy and foreign policy is expected to have major implications for China. On Thursday, think tanks and corporate consultancies in Washington scrambled to assess the implications of the choice of the Ohio senator and his acceptance speech.
