Joe Biden, the Democratic nominee for the U.S. presidency, and running mate Kamala Harris delivered victory speeches on Nov. 7 after being projected to clear the 270 electoral vote threshold needed to unseat incumbent Donald Trump.
Harris spoke first, telling supporters about the generations of women -- "Black women, Asian, White, Latina and Native American women" -- who came before her and "paved the way for this moment tonight." She will be the country's first female, as well as Black and Asian American, vice president.
