KYIV -- As exchanges of fire between Ukrainian forces and pro-Moscow separatists renew fears of a Russian invasion, U.S. President Joe Biden is ringing alarm bells about an imminent attack. But in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv, people are calm, going about their daily lives as normal.
Still, the flag at the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv is down, since staff members have been relocated -- as embassy personnel have been from other countries such as Canada, Australia and the U.K. The Chinese Embassy was also closed on Thursday.
