KYIV -- North Korean troops fighting in Russia are gaining the combat skills to make their country a more dangerous security threat in Asia, a senior Ukrainian military intelligence official said.

"North Korean soldiers suffered heavy casualties at first, but they are learning modern warfare tactics very well and quickly in combat," Andriy Cherniak, a senior official at the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense, told Nikkei this week. "They are becoming very professional."
