TOKYO -- Russia may be blocking access to government websites from overseas to protect them from cyberattacks, Nikkei has learned.

An investigation found that as of Feb. 27, websites of Russia's defense ministry, financial institutions and organizations offering public services were only accessible from within Russia or the pro-Russian countries of Belarus and Kazakhstan.
