U.S., Japan impose sweeping sanctions on Russia as G-7 stands with Ukraine

HIROSHIMA, Japan/TOKYO -- The U.S. and Japan on Friday imposed sanctions on hundreds of people and organizations connected to Russia's war on Ukraine as the Group of Seven reiterated its determination to raise the costs of Moscow's invasion.

The announcement comes as G-7 leaders gather in Hiroshima, Japan, for an annual summit. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is slated to join the talks as well.
