VIENNA/WASHINGTON -- The U.S. is considering imposing sanctions on Chinese financial institutions believed to be helping Russia amid its invasion of Ukraine, in a bid to clamp down on what it sees as a lifeline for Russian military production.

In a meeting late last month with Chinese President Xi Jinping, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken urged Beijing to end military support for Moscow.
