HANOI -- The Vietnamese Communist Party on Tuesday decided to allow President Nguyen Xuan Phuc to resign as it moves ahead with an anti-corruption crackdown citing coronavirus-related scandals, state media reported.

The latest resignation is unprecedented and allows party chief Nguyen Phu Trong to further concentrate political power.
